Oh I thought you were talking about the alien head.  The eyes don't make that big a difference when the laptop is black.

That's the one I'm getting and the alien barely covers anything.?

Alienware is just high-tech.? It comes with sweet computer themes and wallpapers built in.

By sweet computer themes they mean WindowBlinds, which trust me, uninstalling it and getting your system resources back will make you much happier.  Just use the uxtheme.dll patch instead.  No third party app and plenty of themes to choose from.

Also I noticed you said you were going to be gaming on this notebook.  The only video card option I could see for it was Intel Extreme Graphics 2.  Integrated graphics suck for gaming.  Not only that the preconfigured version comes with only 256MB RAM and a Celeron processor.  Frankly you should be able to get that system for cheaper.  Have a look here: http://www.abspc.com/app/mayhem_compare.asp instead.

If those are too much they also have this one: http://www.abspc.com/soho/f15_overview.asp

I'm doubling the RAM and upgrading to a Pentium M processor.  Also upgrading to the 60gb 7200 hard drive.  The graphics card is fine for playing counter-strike which is most of what I'm playing.

Alienware preconfigures the themes onto your computer when you buy it and it doesn't take up any system resources.

Plus I want the Alienware simply because they are amazing.

CS:S or plain CS?

And actually, yes, the AlienGUIse Theme Manager, which is basically a modified version of WindowBlinds, does use up a lot of system resources to run.

Anyways, configured it looks like the Sentia will cost $1263?  The ABS Mayhem G3 costs $1249, comes with an excellent processor, graphics, 512MB PC-3200, 16x Double-Layer DVD+RW/-RW and a larger screen.

Wise decision. 512MB RAM + Pentium M is a great addition. Also, I have seen people upgrading their laptops from 5400RPM HDD -> 7200RPM, and they all saw a huge performance increase.

So, nice system. :)

Regular Counter-Strike.  I don't think Alienware would put something like that in their laptop if it takes up a whole bunch of system resources since Alienware is all top quality.

A.Pickle, your DELL has a ATI Radeon X800 XL ? How does she run?

The ATI Radeon X800 XL is a solid card & best price/performace on the market @ the time of launch.

I think you're thinking about the one that you can download onto your computer if it isn't an alienware.  This comes BUILT IN and doesn't use up many resources at all.

I asked around at notebookforums.com and they said it didn't take up enough resources to slow down the computer at all.
