If Halo 2 is coming out for Vista, what will Halo 3 come out for, Vista II? Anyhow, also RTS games are pretty fun on PCs, like StarCraft, C&C games, and Age of Empires I and II. (maybe III but I like the first 2 much better)
I have recently started playing all my old Age of Empires games, when you havn't played on your old games for a while, they are always fun again. I might be getting age of empires 3, i downloaded a demo and liked it. Age of mythology is quite good as well.
AHAHAHAHAHA. Age of Mythology? Good? - Jonny aka Spakky
Yeh my friend just bought Command and Conquer: The First Decade. Its got all the original C&C games (including Generals, Zero Hour and Renegade) and they all work on XP. I think that Rome: Total War/Barbarian Invasion is pretty good as a strategy game. Its turn based with great battles.
Hi AudreyVich Glad to see your posting at the forums and I welcome you to the forums. I hope you have fun. and yeah I haven't played the rome game but it looks cool. and command and conquer games are cool too.
lets do the list:
Counterstrike source + 1.6
World of Warcraft/Warcrack
Medieval Total War 2
Starcraft
Dawn of War (best sci-fi RTS since starcraft in my opinion)
Zero Hour (CC generals)
Operation Flash point (a classic, yet way ahead of its time, would love to see a remake)
Half-life (1, 2 + all of the expansions)
Halo (did 2 come out for PC?)
BF 1942
Age of Empires
Caesar 3 (when it didn't crash my old computer)
Red Alert 1 and 2 + expansions
and the good old classic Wolfenstein
All of these games are amazing, and if you don't like them present a decent argument to disprove me..
That's a pretty good list you have there; Battlefield 2 cant really be beaten in many ways, although CS:S is legendary, along with those other steam games, HL2 and DoD lol.
Commander Conquer 3 will be amazing, in the future, and for Vista only, and there is also Halo 2, I thought that would be a big hit but its been delayed so long, it deserves to be a £5 game; as I have played it too much on the Xbox to be bothered about going out to buy it on Vista for £40; shame Halo 3 isn't on PC; but then again Microsoft would never do that.
Starcraft definetly has to be up there, and the first Rainbow Six multiplayer was an amazing FPS as 90's goes...but when half-life came out with there counterstrike and day of defeat mods, a new world opened up lol...as for rpg's, Diablo 2 was most probably one of the best one-time-fee rpg's, but nowadays with the MMORPG craze, world of warcraft is my favorite, although everquest was huge, and asheron's call wasn't far behind, and for racing...need for speed hands down
Rome: Total War is excellent, I have completed it and it took me over a year, and every day is different from the day before depending on what you do. When you complete it though, you can still keep on playing.
Battlefield 1942 is excellent, purely because of all the mods available for it. You have to pay to download most of them of FilePlanet, but if you search you can find them all.
I have all the Desert Combat mods which make it a modern-day Iraq/Afghanistan type game (basicaly the same as Battlefield 2). I have BF2 on the PS2 and thought it was rubbush, but i heard that on the PC the multiplayer is the same as on the first one so that sounds good.
It has infantry, vehicle, flight (both planes and helo's) and ship elements to it, so if you play online as I do you can specialise in whatever you want.
Guild Wars is ok if you are going to put alot of time and effort in. It is good as there are no fees to pay, as with WoW or SW: Galaxies.
