As Apple’s big love-in, Macworld Expo 2008, kicks off today, Googlehas been quick off the blocks by announced improvements to itsapplications for the iPhone.
Of course, that depends on whether or not you have been insane enough to buy that wallet-crushing O2 contract.
Anyway, the improvements include a slicker and easier-to-use userinterface to the key applications, Search, Gmail, Calendar, Reader,Docs and more. Gmail has been speeded up with new mails automaticallyshowing up without users having to keep refreshing the Inbox.
You can now customise the default tabs with your favourite Googleapplications for easy access and there’s a one-time ‘sign-in’ to accessall of those apps. Calendar runs faster now and has a one month view.Google said:
“These new features provide iPhone users with a desktop-likeGoogle web application experience in terms of ease-of-use, speed, andfeature richness but optimised for the iPhone. We plan to expand thisexperience to international versions of the iPhone and to otherplatforms that offer similar usability and browser capabilities.” Finally, iPhone users can now access their iGoogle homepage.
