No, it's very possible.  But, it's a pain and it doesn't look near as good as IE.

I use the Firefox browser, my firewall is Zone Alarm my Virus Protection is called house call which is somewhere on the internet but my brother is in charge of the computers. Oh and of course, Ad-Aware SE personal.


Edit: I have spybot but I never use it :P

Yeah, what you have to do is add 'file:///\" before the path.  So, like, file:///C:Docs.

Try pasting this into firefox, and see what happens - file:///C:Documents and Settings
You should get a page with a few folders.

Works fine for me.
Try file:///C:/ (replace C with the letter of your drive name[s])

It's not practical to use to view files, and when browsing offline it still has a few major flaws.. if you want a file explorer alternative, then try something like freeCommander

And yes, it 's VERY unwise to remove IE.. many things require it, including critical system files, games, occasionally installers, and many other applications which you proberbly don't know that use it..

You will neither gain or prevent anything by removing it.
